Spain is one of the UK\u2019s leading holiday destinations but while many Britons travel to the country\u2019s resort areas, the Mediterranean hotspot is now being celebrated for sustainable tourism.<\/p>\n
In the 2024 Lonely Planet Best In Travel rankings, Spain was named as one of the world\u2019s most sustainable destinations.<\/p>\n
A Lonely Planet spokesperson said: \u201cOne of the globe\u2019s most popular destinations, sun-washed Spain is making enormous strides in boosting off-season travel to spread visitors across the year and to encourage travel to overlooked destinations.<\/p>\n
\u201cNew cycle paths, electric buses and train routes offer flight-free ways to see the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cCreative small-scale hotels and other initiatives are revitalising the country\u2019s rural areas and new train routes are making flight-free travel a breeze.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a great spot for families with a huge playground for children.<\/p>\n Spain is also encouraging tourists to visit some of its lesser-visited destinations.
